Description

James Gosling will revisit the topic of his 1997 article entitled "The feel of Java" that was published in Computer, the flagship magazine of the IEEE Computer Society. This topic is particularly relevant in the context of the vigorous debate currently surrounding the various proposals for adding closures to the Java Language.

Although this is a free event, we will be limiting attendance to a maximum of 150 attendees. Once registration reaches this limit, we will be closing registration. There will be no wait list.

About The Speaker

James Gosling received a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, Canada in 1977. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1983. Among other things, he built a text editor called 'Emacs' for Unix systems. At Sun, he did the original design of the Java programming language and implemented its original compiler and virtual machine.
